The aviation world is huge and an AME license allows you to choose from many different and exciting job roles depending on what you like doing:
- Line Maintenance Engineer: You are the person standing right at the airport gate on the tarmac. When a plane lands, you only have about 45 minutes before it takes off again. You do quick, high-speed visual inspections, check the oil, and do small repairs to get the plane ready for its next flight.
- Base Maintenance Technician: You work inside massive hangars (giant airplane garages). Here, the plane is parked for weeks. You take apart the whole airplane to do deep, heavy maintenance, check for hidden cracks in the metal and overhaul the engines.
- Avionics Technician: If you love computers and electronics, this is for you. You will fix the complicated electrical screens, weather radars, autopilot systems and navigation computers inside the pilot's cabin.
- Defense Jobs: You do not just have to work for private airlines like IndiGo or Air India. You can proudly serve your country by getting a highly secure government job to repair fighter jets and military planes in the Indian Air Force, HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) or DRDO.
