A BSc Nursing course usually takes 4 years. It gives solid knowledge of health care practices and nursing skills. The course involves theoretical classes, laboratory practice, and clinical training in preparation to take up services in various health care set-ups. During that time, the students pursue their study, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and nursing ethics, and acquire the necessary skill sets for attending to different types of patients in multiple settings.
The experience is further supplemented by actual exposure in hospitals, nursing homes, among other healthcare facilities, through clinical rotations. In this setting, the student is exposed to actual working conditions where he or she will be supervised by senior nurses and doctors. After graduation, graduates are entitled to sit the nursing licensing examination, after which they can start working as a registered nurse (RN) in hospitals, clinics, and other community healthcare settings or further education in advanced nursing fields such as nursing management or nursing education.
