What is Polytechnic in AME?

Polytechnic in AME refers to a 3-year diploma program in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) that prepares students for a career in the aviation industry. The course is designed for students who have completed their 10th standard and wish to enter the field of aircraft maintenance and safety.

During the program, students learn both theoretical concepts and practical skills required to keep aircraft in proper working condition. The curriculum is divided into two main streams:

  1. Mechanical Stream – Focuses on aircraft structures, engines, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, and other mechanical parts.

  2. Avionics Stream – Covers electrical systems, navigation instruments, radar, and communication equipment.

Both streams are equally important because every aircraft requires maintenance of both mechanical and electronic systems to ensure airworthiness and passenger safety.

In addition to classroom learning, the Polytechnic in AME College in Sonepat emphasizes hands-on training through simulation labs, licensed aircraft models, and industrial training at airports or Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations. Students also study aviation legislation, safety standards, and modern diagnostic methods.

By the end of the 3 years, students are skilled in inspection, repair, fault detection, and troubleshooting of aircraft. This makes them ready for roles in airlines, MRO companies, aircraft manufacturing firms, and even research organizations.
