Under Haryana: HSTES Diploma Admission, the duration of a diploma (polytechnic) course depends on the type of entry you take. For most students who apply after Class 10, the diploma course duration is 3 years. This is known as regular admission, where students start from the first year and complete the full program step by step.
During these 3 years, students learn both theoretical concepts and practical skills related to their chosen field. The course is divided into semesters, and it includes classroom learning, lab work, workshops, and sometimes industrial training. This structure helps students build a strong foundation in technical education.
However, there is also an option called lateral entry, which allows certain students to take direct admission into the second year of the diploma course. This option is available for students who have already completed 12th (with relevant subjects like PCM) or a 2-year ITI course in a related trade. In such cases, the total course duration becomes 2 years instead of 3.
The lateral entry option is very beneficial because it saves time and allows students to complete their diplomas faster. It is especially helpful for those who already have some technical knowledge or vocational training.
The entire admission process, including both regular and lateral entry, is managed by the Haryana State Technical Education Society. Students can choose their preferred entry type during the application and counselling process based on their eligibility.
