Throughout your LLB, you can specialize in a particular branch of law by choosing elective modules in the area of your interest, for example, criminal law, corporate law, intellectual property law, or human rights law. Most universities provide specialized modules through which students can develop in-depth knowledge in these areas. Moreover, engaging in moot court competitions, internships, and legal research can also increase your proficiency in a selected specialization.
Practical experience by interning at law firms, NGOs, or corporate legal offices can develop you in a specific area. Composing research papers or dissertations on a specific legal issue also develops your expertise in that subject. Full specialization is generally achieved at the postgraduate (LLM) level, but concentrating on a particular field while doing your LLB can provide you with a good grounding and a competitive advantage in your legal profession.
