Can 10+2 or ITI students join directly?

Yes, students who have completed 10+2 or a 2-year ITI in a relevant trade are eligible to take direct admission into the second year of the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Puran Murti Campus, Sonepat through the lateral entry scheme. This pathway is ideal for those who already have foundational knowledge in science or a technical background and wish to fast-track their diploma studies.

For 10+2 students, eligibility usually applies to those who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB). Even students from vocational or technical streams in senior secondary education are considered, provided their subjects align with the fundamentals of mechanical engineering.

Similarly, students who have completed a two-year ITI course in trades such as fitter, machinist, welder, mechanic, or tool & die maker are also eligible. The ITI must be recognized by NCVT/SCVT, and the trade must be relevant to the mechanical domain. These students already possess significant practical skills, making them well-suited for direct second-year admission.

This lateral entry option not only saves one full academic year but also offers a more focused and skill-oriented learning path. It’s especially beneficial for students who are looking to gain employment sooner or wish to pursue higher studies like B.Tech through lateral entry after completing their diploma.
