What kind of topics do we learn in this course?

In the Polytechnic in Automobile Engineering course, students learn a wide range of topics that cover both the mechanical and electronic sides of modern vehicles. The aim is to help students understand how different parts of a vehicle work together and how to maintain, repair, and improve them.

One of the major topics is engine technology, where students study different types of engines, their components, working principles, and performance. They learn about petrol engines, diesel engines, hybrid engines, and even electric power systems used in modern vehicles.

The course also covers fuel systems, including fuel injection, carburetors, fuel pumps, and emission control systems. Students understand how fuel reaches the engine and how it burns efficiently while reducing pollution.

Another important area is transmission and powertrain systems, where students learn about gearboxes, clutches, differentials, and axles. This helps them understand how power from the engine is transmitted to the wheels.

Students also study vehicle design using CAD/CAM software, which teaches them how to create 2D and 3D vehicle models on a computer. This is an important skill in the automotive industry, especially for those interested in design and development.

The course includes automotive electronics, where students learn about sensors, wiring, ECU (Engine Control Unit), ignition systems, and modern electronic control systems used in almost every vehicle today.

Emissions control is another important subject that teaches how to reduce harmful gases and meet environmental standards. Students learn about catalytic converters, emission norms, and pollution testing.

Practical subjects like vehicle maintenance and workshop practice are also included. In these sessions, students work on real vehicle parts, tools, and diagnostic equipment to build hands-on skills. They learn how to service vehicles, repair faults, and perform regular inspections.
