Is the course practical or theoretical?

The Polytechnic in Fire Technology and Safety course is heavily practical, although it also includes important theoretical knowledge. While you learn concepts like fire science, combustion, safety regulations, and disaster management in the classroom, the main focus is on hands-on training. Students spend significant time in well-equipped labs and training areas, practising real-life fire safety techniques.

You will participate in mock fire drills, live rescue simulations, and emergency evacuation exercises. You will also get practical experience using fire extinguishers, hydrants, breathing apparatus, fire hoses, and other firefighting equipment. The course trains you to assess hazards, respond quickly, and handle emergencies safely, which builds confidence and skill.

Industrial visits and field exercises are another key part of learning. Students are exposed to factories, high-rise buildings, airports, and chemical plants to understand real workplace safety challenges. Instructors supervise every step to ensure students can apply theoretical knowledge effectively in practical scenarios.

Is the course practical or theoretical?

The Polytechnic in Medical Lab Technician course is mainly practical in nature. While you do learn theoretical concepts like anatomy, physiology, pathology, and biochemistry, most of the course focuses on hands-on training. Students spend a lot of time inside fully equipped laboratories learning how to use microscopes, analysers, centrifuges, and other medical lab instruments.

You also practice real tests such as blood tests, urine tests, stool tests, culture tests, and sample preparation. This practical approach helps you understand how laboratory procedures work in real hospitals and diagnostic centres. Instructors guide students step by step so they can confidently handle equipment, collect samples safely, maintain hygiene, and prepare accurate test reports.

The goal of the course is to build strong technical skills that are required for immediate employment. So even though theory is important, the majority of learning happens through lab work, demonstrations, experiments, and clinical training. This makes the course perfect for students who want a job-oriented and skill-focused medical career.
