The Polytechnic Diploma course in Automobile Engineering is a three-year professional programme, structured to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and extensive practical training. These three years are systematically divided into six semesters, with each semester focusing on a particular set of subjects, skill development activities, and hands-on workshops.
During the six semesters, students gradually progress from learning basic engineering concepts to mastering advanced automobile technologies. The first year introduces foundational subjects like Applied Physics, Engineering Mathematics, Basic Mechanical Engineering, and Workshop Practice. As students move into the second year, they begin exploring core automobile topics such as Engine Technology, Fuel Systems, Vehicle Dynamics, Transmission Systems, CAD, and Chassis Design. The final year emphasises advanced systems like Automotive Electronics, Electric Vehicles, Quality Control, Testing & Diagnosis, along with industrial exposure and project work.
Since the course follows a semester pattern, students undergo regular evaluations, practical exams, industrial training, and project assignments every six months. This structured timeline helps them build strong technical skills and industry readiness by the time they complete the diploma.
