The new law will take effect on January 1, 2025, with the goal of making it easier to design and manufacture aircraft in India and to conduct business in the aviation industry.

The 90-year-old Aircraft Act was replaced by the new Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024, which was approved by the Parliament earlier this month.

The "central government hereby appoints the 1st day of January, 2025 as the date on which the provisions of the said Act, shall come into force," according to a notification released on Tuesday.

The Act, among other things, regulates and controls the design, production, upkeep, ownership, usage, operation, sale, import, export, and related activities of aircraft.
Additionally, the measure will replace the Aircraft Act, 1934, which has undergone 21 amendments, and eliminate redundant provisions.

One of the markets for civil aviation that is expanding the quickest in the globe is India.
