SKILL SETU Student Club – Industrial Engagement Club
The SKILL SETU Student Club of Puran Murti Vidyapeeth serves as a vital bridge between academic learning and industry expectations. The name “Skill Setu” itself signifies a bridge of skills — connecting classroom knowledge with real-world industrial practices. The club was established with the prime objective of nurturing industry-ready professionals by promoting skill-based learning, industrial exposure, and career development.
The club aligns with the institution’s vision of “Education for Employability” and aims to enhance students’ competencies through continuous engagement with industrial experts, live projects, hands-on workshops, and technical challenges.
Objectives / Purposes of the Club
- To strengthen industry-academia collaboration through regular interactions, visits, and internships.
- To develop practical skills aligned with current industrial demands across various engineering, management, and pharmacy domains.
- To organise skill enhancement programs, certification workshops, and industrial training sessions.
- To facilitate placement preparedness through mock interviews, aptitude tests, resume-building sessions, and soft-skill training.
- To encourage entrepreneurial and innovative thinking through industry mentorship and project incubation.
- To build a network of students, faculty, and professionals for knowledge exchange and collaborative growth.
Club Description
The club is led by student coordinators from various departments under the mentorship of faculty members and the Training & Placement Cell. It acts as an interface between students and industries, organising structured initiatives that help students experience the operational, technical, and managerial aspects of professional environments.
The club’s framework includes:
- Student Core Committee: Responsible for planning and executing industrial activities.
- Faculty Advisors: Provide mentorship, industry linkage support, and quality guidance.
- Industry Partners: Collaborate for training sessions, plant visits, internships, and college drives.
Key Activities and Initiatives (AY 2024–25)
The Skill Setu Club undertook a range of impactful activities throughout the academic year to strengthen industrial engagement and professional growth among students:
a. Industrial Visits & Exposure Programs
- Organised visits to reputed industries such as Maruti Suzuki, Mother Dairy, BHEL, Yakult, and Sun Pharma to provide firsthand exposure to production processes, automation, and quality control.
- Conducted live demonstration sessions on advanced manufacturing techniques, safety protocols, and sustainability practices.
b. Skill Development Workshops & Seminars
- Hosted industry expert lectures on topics like AI in manufacturing, digital marketing, supply chain management, and advanced pharmaceutical technologies.
- Conducted hands-on workshops in CAD/CAM, IoT applications, data analytics, and soft skills.
- Partnered with online platforms and industry trainers for certification programs like AutoCAD, Python, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
c. Internship and Placement Support
- Facilitated summer internships through collaboration with industry partners.
- Organised pre-placement orientation and mock interview sessions to enhance employability.
- Helped students prepare industry-specific résumés and LinkedIn profiles.
d. Industry-Academia Meets & MoU Collaborations
- Coordinated interactive sessions between institutional leaders and corporate representatives to explore new collaboration opportunities.
- Assisted in signing MoUs with industries for student training, live projects, and industrial consultancy.
e. Innovation and Project Exhibitions
- Encouraged students to participate in “Skillthon” and “Innovation Week”, where industry mentors evaluated student prototypes.
- Showcased industrially viable projects developed by students under faculty supervision.
f. Career and Entrepreneurship Guidance
- Organised sessions on entrepreneurial mindset, startup ecosystem, and government skill initiatives like PMKVY and MSME support programs.
- Guided students on funding opportunities, patent filing, and incubation centre facilities.
